Making an appointment for the consultation hours

You can schedule an appointment for your pet at the front desk or by phone. Please keep the following information ready for us:
  • Reason
When you schedule an appointment, we will always inquire about the reason for the appointment. With this information we try to estimate the amount of time we have to schedule for your pet. This way we try to eliminate waiting time as much as possible. Appointments running long is never fully preventable. But by providing us with a clear description of the reason for the appointment (the symptoms of your pets illness), will help us to minimise waiting time for both you and other clients.

For example: you schedule an appointment for the annual check-up and vaccination, but you also suspect your dog to have an ear infection and he has a lump on his side you don't trust. This appointment will likely take longer than an average annual check-up, if you inform us in advance, we will schedule more time for your dog.
  • Preference for a veterinarian

We have several vets working at our clinics. If you have a preference, please tell us when you make the appointment. We will try our best to find a convenient time with the vet of your choice. Please understand that in case of emergency, this might not be possible.

  • Time preference and availability
We will always try our best to find a time that suits you. But please keep in mind we are bound to schedules and staff availability  too. Feel free to ask us about the possibilities.
  • Preference for location

Your pet(s) files and the agenda for the clinics are accessible at both our clinics. So you can make an appointment for either one, even if you called the number of the other clinic, just let us know. During busy hours we sometimes reconnect the phoneline from one clinic to the other. So even if you called a certain location, you might be asked to confirm for which clinic you want the appointment. Or you might be asked if you are able to travel to the other clinic, when consultation hours are fully booked at the clinic you prefer.


Note:

The clinic in Voorburg is equipped only to do consultation hours and basic laboratory work. Surgeries, X-rays, dental treatments etc. will always have to take place at our main clinic in Rijswijk.


Canceling an appointment

When you are not able to attend the appointment you scheduled with us, please let us know in ample time to cancel or reschedule.

If you repeatedly miss appointments without giving notice (or cancel very shortly in advance), you may be charged for the scheduled appointment.

Unfortunately it is not possible to schedule appointments by email.

With one exception: people with hearing impairments;  they are welcome to email us for an appointment.

Transportation to the clinic:

Cats should ALWAYS be transported in a cat carrier. No matter how sweet and cooperative your cat is, even when it wears a harness, in a strange environment surrounded by other animals, your cat may suddenly act very unpredictable. To prevent accidents cats should stay inside their cat carrier while still in the waiting area. Dogs should always be leashed and stay leashed upon entering the exam room.

If you don't own a cat carrier, you can borrow one from the clinic, free of charge. As long as you return it to us clean and as soon as possible.

If you have difficulty arranging transportation to our clinic for yourself and your pet, for example when you have a disability, don't own a car or when the cab company refuses to transport animals, you can either call The Animal Nanny or the Dierenambulance. Costs for the transportation will be charged by those companies and not by the clinic.
